• 10.Fremont & the Troll — The self-proclaimed 'Centre of the Universe' — a quirky neighbourhood of vintage shops, breweries, a rocket, a Lenin statue and the beloved concrete Troll clutching a real VW Beetle under the bridge. Weird, fun and very Seattle.
• 11.Ballard Locks — Watch boats rise and fall between the Sound and the lakes at these busy ship locks, with salmon climbing a fish ladder (viewable through glass in season) and gardens alongside. A free, oddly mesmerising slice of working Seattle.
